The head of the South Sudan’s media authority says the registration of media outlets and journalists in the country must register for their own safety and protection.
Speaking to reporters on Friday after the closure of two days workshop in Juba, Elijah Alier says the demand for registering all the media houses in South Sudan is according to the law.
Alier reveals that so far more than sixty media houses have already registered with the media authority.
He calls on all national freelance journalists who work for International media houses to also register and get a work permit from the media authority.
Alier urges those media houses that have not yet registered to do so to avoid further measures.
The two days workshops drew together members of parliament, heads of media institutions and the media authority, under the theme; ‘towards vibrant and effective media in South Sudan’.
