Torit women call for support in peace building activities

Women working with several organizations in Torit, Imotong State are calling on the government and the private sectors to support their activities in peace building.
 
They believe that supporting women will help South Sudan achieve lasting peace, Radio Emmanuel reports.
 
Flora Sebit who works for South Sudan Women Voice Organization says women lacks financial support to advocate for peace in grassroots.
 
She calls on men to join women in advocating for peace in the country.
 
Josephine Ibura Solomon, who works for Young Voices agrees that logistic remains a challenge for women to continue creating awareness among communities.
 
Doka Sunday, a member for Imotong State Women Association, says the peace forum organized for women to encourage them to borrow ideas to resolve problems peacefully.
 
Sunday criticizes fellow women who praise men causing havoc in communities by singing songs that motivate perpetrators to continue doing crimes.
 
Sunday says supporting criminals hinders peace process in the state and the country.
 
Chandi Richard, an official working for Mercy South Sudan, assures his organizations readiness to support women in promoting peaceful coexistence among communities.
 
The officials made the remarks in a one-day women peace forum organized by Mercy South Sudan at Torit Civic Engagement Centre on Thursday.
