United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Imatong State Coordinator is calling on the government to respect human rights.
Mary Cummins says violence has resulted to displacement of most South Sudanese citizens to the neighbouring countries due to violent actions by the parties to the conflict, Emmanuel Radio reports.
She says their actions have contravened the human rights of women, girls, men and boys in the country.
Cummins says it is the government’s obligation to uphold the rights of everybody in South Sudan.
She appeals to the warring parties to lay down their arms to end the suffering of innocent civilians.
Cummins also reiterates the commitment of the UN towards the proposed national dialogue as long as it brings lasting and genuine peace in the country.
The UNMISS State Coordinator appreciates the Church for its tireless efforts in uniting communities.
