The team leader of Girls Education South Sudan or GESS in Imotong State is advising parents to guide their daughters on how to use their money properly.
Duku David observes that some girls after receiving their money will immediately rush to the market and misuse it, Emmanuel Radio reports.
He warns parents against taking away the money from their children for their own interest.
Kornelio Adafa Obulang, one of the parents in Torit observes that some girls offer some money to their parents when they see their family suffering.
Jackline Akongo tells fellow parents to respect the girls’ money because it has specific purpose.
Another parent, Lino Mangatir says he will not be tempted to take the money from his daughter although he is facing hunger.
Mangatir says the GESS program relieves him from providing other basic needs to his daughter.
According to Girls’ Education South Sudan or GESS program, no teacher or parent is allowed to take any percentage from the money given to the girls.
Earlier, Michael Lopuke Lotyam, Undersecretary in the national Ministry of Education has warned girls against using the cash transfer for paying their school fees.
He says the money is meant to buy sanitary pads and other specific needs only.
