Imotong Health Ministry burns expired vaccines

A number of expired vaccines from past campaigns collected from all over South Sudan have been burnt into ashes, at Torit State Hospital incinerator on Monday morning.
 
Dr Augustine Okwahi, Imotong State Director General of Health, says the national government chose to dispose the expired vaccines in Torit hospital, based on the high quality incinerator with minimal dangerous effects, Emmanuel Radio reports.
 
He says expired vaccines are poisonous to people’s health and the environment.
 
Dr Okwahi says it is the first time the ministry is burning expired drugs collected from all over the country.
 
Dr Augustine Okwahi was speaking during the burning of the expired vaccines at Torit State Hospital this Monday.
