Malnutrition cases on increase in Umdorein County, confirms health official

Health officials in Umdoriein County of Nuba Mountains report that cases of malnutrition are on rise every month.
 
Bilal Ali Kuwa a nurse working at Luggi Health centre in Umdorein, told Voice of peace Radio that malnutrition cases had increased since July by more than 30 cases each month, Radio Voice of Peace reports.
 
Ali says most affected group are children less than 3 years.
 
He attributes food taboo in some community as the cause of malnutrition, less attendance to children also lack of family plan and more.
 
He mentions that severely malnourished infants are transferred to Mother of Mercy Hospital for evaluation.
 
The nurse encourages parents to make family planning and avoid tradition which says some food gives sickness to people.
