The Director for Disaster Management in Imotong State said more than 50 residential houses have been destroyed by heavy rain in Angaur area and other parts of Torit town last week.
Mourice Ilawiya, says Angaur and Addis Ababa residential areas in Torit town were affected by flood following the heavy rain, Radio Emmanuel reports.
Ilawiya says houses and other personal belongings were destroyed. He claims that no reports of lost of life have been reported so far.
The Director says they are worried about the spread of disease due to the flood which might affect many families especially children.
Ilawiya for disaster management also reveals at least twelve cattle in Torit East County drowned and over twenty farms destroyed by the flood last week.
The Director says fifty five year old woman lost her life after she was drowned into the water while trying to cross the river.
Her body was found after three days in Hatire Payam of Geria County.
