Youth in Yei joined the rest of the world to celebrate the international peace day in the youth gardens on Thursday.
Speaking during the event, sir Edward, chairman of the Junub Wahid group says South Sudanese are yearning for a lasting peace to enable them enjoy the fruits of the independence, Radio Easter reports.
He calls for empowerment of people about peace and respect to human dignity.
Edward believes the hatred among South Sudanese will never bring people together.
Meanwhile Koroko Jay, a comedian from Ataku-Ataku comedy club says peace always begins from childhood, asking children to learn how to respect elders.
He says with respect, it brings blessings to them. Koroko expresses his excitement upon seeing the youth of Yei gathering together again as a family regardless of where they come from.
He advises the people of Yei to always value people’s life and preach peace.
A member of Yei Music Association, identified as Emmanuel says, the Music association will always work with the authorities to see that youth are engaged in peace activities.
The event that attracted at least one thousand youth and elders was organized by the Junub Wahid group and the Yei Music Association.
