Peace interschool competition kicks off in Torit

Imotong State Ministry of Education and UNMISS on Tuesday launched interschool sports competition in Torit.
 
The competition is in preparation to celebrate International Peace Day celebration on September 21, Radio Emmanuel reports.
 
Beshir Alegel, head of UNMISS Civil Affairs in Torit, says the competitions are to mark the International Peace Day in the state.
 
UNMISS head of field office in Torit, Mary Cummins, expresses gratitude to the Ministry of Education for partnering in the launch of the interschool competitions.
 
She pledges continuous commitment of UNMISS to peace in Imotong State and South Sudan at large.
 
Cummins says the sports events are great examples where UNMISS and government can work together in organizing activities that promote peace.
 
She urges citizens to join UNMISS for the award ceremony of the competition next Thursday.
 
Hassan Urbano Alex, Imotong State Minister of Education, says the tournament is away the ministry ensures learners are kept busy during the second term holidays
 
He urges learners to observe discipline in their games so as to get peaceful awards during the occasion.
 
On Tuesday in girls’ competition, St Theresa Primary School beat Torit East 3-0.
 
Torit West Primary School defeated AIC Primary School also 3-0.
