Girls are capable of doing everything that boys can do and become future leaders through education, says civil society activist in Maridi State.
The Executive Director of Maridi Service Agency, Wadalla Peter calls on parents and guardians to empower girls through education so that they can be good future leaders, Radio Anisa reports.
He calls for equal treatment for girls and boys in any family.
Peter says their major activity is to empower girls.
He reports that the Maridi Service Agency is currently offering scholarship to 20 girls in secondary and primary schools in the State.
Peter acknowledges that girls are more vulnerable and need to be encouraged because most of them dropout from school due to pregnancy and other circumstances.
He regrets the limited number of women in top leadership positions in the country due to some cultural believes.
The activist made the remarks in a telephone interview to Radio Anisa from Maridi State.
