The Imotong State Youth Union leader is urging parents to allow female children to get educated instead of giving them off for marriage and crime compensations.
James Otililing says some parents due to the current economic crisis have taken advantage of acquiring wealth by marrying off their girls, Radio Emmanuel reports.
Otililing calls for an end to some cultures such as girl child compensation that go against the future development and prosperity of a girl child.
The youth leader spoke during a health awareness campaign at Torit East Primary School last week.
