Butchers in Torit have decided to sell beef contrary to the price they previously agreed with municipal authorities.
Last week in a meeting, the butchers and Torit municipal authorities agreed to sell a kilo of meat at 280 SSP, but this week few butchers who operated sold meat at 330 SSP.
Celestino Muras, Torit Deputy Mayor for Administration says butchers should make their dissatisfaction on the agreed price known in last week’s meeting.
Papa Paul, Chairperson of Butchers in Imotong State, regrets the actions of the few butchers that sold the meat contrary to the agreed price.
Julia Alonyo, a restaurant owner, says she lost some of customers due to absence of meat on her menu.
Torit municipal authorities say they are willing to renegotiate on a fair price of meat per kilogram that will benefit both butchers and their customers.
