Government promises to provide security and humanitarian aid to refugees

The Government Commission for Refugees Affairs in Gbudue State expresses its commitment to provide good security and humanitarian assistance to the refugees in Western Equatoria.
 
Samuel Bororete, representative of the commission, says government is working on protection of refugees and IDPs, in service delivery activities at camps mostly on security and assistance, Radio Anisa reports.
 
He cites some challenges facing the Commission including limited resources to carry out their task effectively.
 
Refugees in the state are facing insecurity threats and misunderstanding between them and host communities, he explains.
 
David Baraka, UNHCR Registration Assistant, says Yambio is hosting over eight thousand refugees with more than eighty individuals seeking asylum.
 
He says UNHCR is supposed to carry registration after every two years, but insecurity hindered the agency from carrying out its duties this year.
 
Baraka adds that UNHCR always issue ID cards to refugees for their movement and protection in the country.
 
Western Equatoria region is hosting refugees from Eritrea, Central African Republic, and Democratic Republic of Congo.
 
The representatives were presenting report in UNHCR three-day training in Yambio on Thursday.
