Do not wait and let someone else to speak on your behalf, national Minister of Foreign Affairs tells the community of Abyei in Juba.
Deng Alor Kuol says the final status of Abyei needs a lot of advocacy by sons and daughters of the area so that their voices could be heard.
Speaking at the Lawyers Network for final status of Abyei on Tuesday, the Minster says the new advocacy group would be heard louder than anybody else speaking about Abyei case.
Alor promises his full support to the new civil society group and facilitate their access to regional and international bodies.
Monyluak Alor Kuol, Chairperson of the Abyei Lawyers’ Network, says Abyei has suffered enough and it is time for its sons and daughters to move and claim the final status of the area.
For the past years the people of Abyei has never experience meaningful peace and stability, he notes.
He says the decision of the African Peace and Security Council over the status of the area was clear but the Khartoum government is insisting to claim the area.
Kuol says the people of Abyei will continue to advocate with others for the recognition of the result of the referendum of October 2013.
The officials were speaking during the launch of Abyei Lawyers Network for final status in Juba.
