Lakes inter-state and border dialogue convenes in Rumbek

Over hundred youth, women, church leaders and government officials from Gok, Western and Eastern Lakes States gathered in Rumbek on Wednesday to discuss issues affecting relationships of three states.
 
The two-day inter-borders’ forum focuses on how cattle theft and revenge killings along the borders should be stopped, Radio Good News reports.
 
Gok State Deputy Governor Kongor Deng Kongor says the three states governments are working hard to restore peace in Greater Lakes region.
 
He says absence of judicial system in the country due to the judges’ strike is contributing to insecurity in the states.
 
Western Lakes Deputy Speaker who is the Chairperson of State Peace Committee, Chol Kuotwel Manhom, says the dialogue is focusing on how to curb cattle theft in the region.
 
South Sudan Council of Churches in partnership with Catholic Relief Service supported inter-border dialogue with funds from USAID.
