Tonj government closes many checkpoints

Tonj State government has closed all checkpoints following complaints from drivers and traders that they are being over taxed at roads.
 
Deputy Governor Manhiem Bol Malek tells public that there is a lot of taxation at the checkpoint on Tonj-Rumbek and Tonj-Wau roads, Radio Don Bosco reports.
 
He says they left only two road blocks to generate income to the state.
 
Governor Akech Tong Aleu came from Wau closed down all checkpoints to minimize over taxing traders, the deputy Governors explains.
 
He said the state government also resolved that nobody should illegally collect money and tax collection will be put back to the State Ministry of Finance.
 
There was a mess at checkpoints because organizes forces, CID, police, Fire Brigade, Migration Department and county authorities were collecting money from the checkpoints, the Deputy Governor explains
 
The deputy governor mentioned that the department that will work at the checkpoints must be only traffic police, Migration department, fire brigade and the taxation must go back to the ministry of finance.
