Mothers should exclusively breastfeed their babies in the first six months before giving them food, Nutrition Medical Doctor of ACROSS urges.
Dr Onyango Joseph Olworo told Radio Easter that six months and above is the right time to feed the baby soft food such as potatoes and bananas.
He believes introducing a baby these types of food help the infants to maintain body metabolic ability.
The Nutrition Medical Doctor mentions that a well breastfed child will experience long term protections from getting diseases.
Dr Joseph advises lactating mothers not to use breast of other mothers to breastfeed their own children.
The official was speaking to Radio Easter in an interview on World Breastfeeding Day on Monday in Yei.
