The United Nations Children Agency or UNICEF has visited Yei River State on Tuesday to assess the issue of accessibility to rural areas.

Leila Pakalla, UNICEF Regional Director, says the visit is to pressure the issue of accessibility because they are accused of taking food to the armed opposition, Radio Easter reports.

Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe of Yei Catholic Diocese says the army is blocking the accessibility of the rural areas to know what is going on there.

He adds that even if the government gives the go ahead, the army denies that they are not informed.

The speakers made the remarks in a meeting between UNICEF and Church leaders in Yei on Tuesday.
