Journalists lack capacity and diverse reporting skills, says UJOSS

Journalists in some media houses are lacking capacities and skills in diverse reporting, says General-Secretary for Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJOSS.
 
Edward Terso Loku says many media houses concentrate on political issues without touching food security, business, humanitarian, environment reporting among others.
 
He explains that journalists do not cover other topics including arts and culture in South Sudan.
 
Terso notes that they got complains about other editors dumping reporters’ news without political angle.
 
The General-Secretary complains of some media houses focusing on political issues only.
 
He says they plan to enlighten editors to avoid denying the public other information.
 
The official was speaking on Wednesday after two-day training on Countering online hate speech in Juba.
