Humanitarian situation in Upper Nile worrying, warns UNMISS Chief

The situation in Pagak County of Upper Nile region is worrying, says head of UN Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS.
 
David Shearer notes that 25 aid workers have been forced to flee from the area due to heavy fighting last week.
 
He says IOM told UNMISS that five thousand South Sudanese fled to Ethiopia due to military exchange of fire.
 
Shearer, who is the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, expresses concerns about the fighting taking place in some parts of Torit of Imotong State.
 
He urges the warring parties to withdraw from the Orphanage Home which they use as a battleground.
 
The UNMISS chief calls for political solution to the ongoing conflict in South Sudan as many people are suffering from hunger.
 
He notes that six million South Sudanese are projected to need food this month countrywide.
 
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General was speaking to Journalists on Wednesday in Juba.
