South Sudan and Uganda agree to monitor Nyimur water project

South Sudan and Uganda authorities agreed to monitor Nyimur Multipurpose Water Project, says Imotong State Governor.
 
Tobiolo Alberio Oromo notes that the state government has secured the area and arrested some criminals who crossed to Uganda.
 
The Governor discloses that by the end of July monitoring of the project will be smooth.
 
He calls on the Ugandan authorities to be committed to the agreement.
 
Governor Alberio cites accessibility of the project as a challenges creating insecurity due to lack of job opportunities in the area.
 
Vincent Ssebug Gwawo, Project Coordinator explains that the project has a water reservoir of 44 million cubic metres.
 
The project also has an irrigation scheme of 5,000 hectors: four thousand in Uganda and one thousand in South Sudan.
 
Nyimur Multipurpose Water Project is funded by the African Development Bank under Nile Basin Initiative.
