National government and Wau State authorities have handed over Jur River Bridge to Star, Eyat and Barsilia Construction Companies for renovation.
Chief Engineer George Duku of National Ministry for Roads and Bridges says water stagnation caused potholes on runway of the bridge, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
He mentions that some materials of the Bridge are rotten that is why it needs renewal before it breaks down totally.
Wau State Minister of Physical Infrastructure, Peter Upio Tutukai, says they are expecting the construction to start on Monday at the cost of 12 million US Dollars.
He thanks the national government for considering their request of repairing Jur River Bridge.
Wau Deputy Governor Anthony, Charles Ngberende, stresses the real need for the state to repair the bridge because it connects Bahr el Ghazal to the national capital.
The state government assures the company of its full support during their work in Wau.
Jur River Bridger was constructed in 1970s and this is the first time it is to be renovated.
The work is projected to take more than eight months.
