Tonj County Commissioner on Wednesday ordered stopping of illegal cutting of timbers in the county because they are resources that generate income in the area.
Severino Philip Bazia says there are people who go to the Ministry of Agriculture for the approval without informing county authorities, Radio Don Bosco reports.
He says machines are found cutting mahogany and teak in Cuei-jai, Kuanja, Dadar and Aguka Payam without permission from the county.
Philip encourages timber dealers to follow the right procedures for the benefit of communities.
Radio Don Bosco could not reach the minister of Agriculture and Forestry for comment.
