The European Union through its funded program IMPACT says it will start paying 40 dollars to over sixteen thousand primary school teachers across South Sudan.

Earlier last month, the EU announced it’s supports to pay monthly incentives worth 40 US Dollars per month for 18 months.

Minister of Higher Education, Deng Deng Hoc, told the press on Wednesday in Juba that the teachers will start receiving their incentives before the end of June.

He says the Ministry aim to reach over one thousand schools.

Some teachers who spoke to CRN welcome the initiative by the Ministry of Education and its partners.

They say the 40 dollars incentives will help maintain many teachers at school who always suffers due to low and delayed salaries.

The Ministry of General Education and Instructions and its partners agreed to approve funds for 1,479 primary schools that have provided necessary documents.
