School girls staged strike over money of Girls Education South Sudan at Jigomoni Primary School in Yei River County on Friday.

Radio Easter quoted Emmanuel Sebit, County Education Director, saying the strike was because some teachers were not aware of who is eligible to get the money.

Some girls told him that when they were paid other teachers could ask them to share their money, he adds.

Jacob Aligo Lo Lodu, Acting Education Minster, urges the County Director to accurately crosscheck information in regards to GESS money.

Sambala Moses, GESS County Liaison Officer, says invalidated learners were the ones who caused the strike.

Moses reveals that the cash transfer is only to be given for those regularly in schools, but not absentees.

The three officials were speaking during meeting on Tuesday organized by the Ministry of Education and GESS administrators in Yei.
