A senior medical director in Yambio State Hospital was killed on Sunday night and his wife injured in Yambio, Gbudue State.
Unknown gunmen shot dead Doctor Ishmael Mohamed Ali at his residential area of Hai Kisanga, Radio Anisa reports.
Joan John Baptist, wife of late Mohamed says they were sleeping inside their room when the gunmen opened fire on them and that when she woke up she found her husband dead.
She was seriously wounded on her left hand and was expected to be flown to Juba for further treatment.
Gibson Bullen Wande, Gbudue State Minister of Information says the government condemns the killing of the doctor.
He explains that the doctor was on duty on Sunday until eleven PM and he went home where he was killed.
Wande reveals that the government is still tracing the perpetrator and will continue to investigate exactly what contributes to his killing.
He says so far security organs arrested some suspects who are under investigation in Yambio.
On Monday the government of Gbudue requested all government institutions to lower state flag half mask to mourn the late doctor.
Doctor Mohamed came to Yambio in 2010 together with other doctors sent from Sudan and he saved many lives of mothers and children.
His body will be laid to rest at his home at Hai Kisanga in Yambio, but the date will be communicated later.
