Comboni Missionaries in Nzara Parish sent a letter of love and remembrance to Christians of Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese about the death of Fr Pietro Revasio this month in Milan, Italy and his work.

Sr Anne Gastaldello visited Radio Anisa with a letter addressed to Christians and people of Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese and South Sudan about the passing on of Fr Revasio.

In her letter, the Sister shares the life and Mission work of the priest in Tombura-Yambio Diocese some years ago.

The late priest arrived in South Sudan in 1978 and was assigned to Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio at the request of Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite, read part of the letter.

It says Fr Pietro was asked to organize the Diocesan Catechistical Centre or PALICA in Nzara Catholic Parish.

The late experienced the closeness of the Zande people in his parish and witnessed how Christians felt responsible of their Church.

The letter indicates that Catechist David Abayo a native of the Diocese helped Fr Pietro setting up centre boundaries and supervision of construction work of PALICA.

In 1990, Fr Pietro together with Fr Benin left Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese to find refuge in Central African Republic.

It is worth mentioning that they were the last two missionaries to leave the diocese during the liberation struggle days.

Fr Pietro was born in Italy in 1932, became Comboni Missionary at the age of 19 and died aged 85.
