About thirty staff of Torit Catholic Diocese is being trained on humanitarian emergency response to meet international standards of operations.
Fr. Martin Vuni, Programmes Manager for the Diocese, told Emmanuel Radio that Torit diocese has been involved in relief assistance since 1985 and it was necessary to adopt standard practices on humanitarian response to emergencies.Fr. Vuni added that the participants would learn how to apply common humanitarian standards, about the humanitarian Charta and the history of Caritas Internationals.
He explained that the training meant to prepare a group of people to be ready to answer any humanitarian emergency.
Participants at the emergency response training were drawn from Narus, Palotaka, Nimule, Loa, Chukudum, Ikotos and Isohe parishes.
