Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD leaders’ extraordinary summit next Monday is expected to discuss ways to end violence and national dialogue process the in South Sudan.
IGAD heads of states and governments meeting in Addis Ababa is also expected to deliberate on the dire security and humanitarian situation facing South Sudan, says a statement.
The statement adds that IGAD leaders have to speak with one voice to decrease the deteriorating situation that has resulted in a sharp increase of IDPs and refugees.
“IGAD’s consultations with AU and UN have to lead the way for a concerted effort to bring forward the dialogue to resolve the crisis in South Sudan, says the statement.
It notes that the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in South Sudan is a matter of “extreme concern” for the IGAD member states.
It warns that the situation is expected to become worse with the rainy season in the country.
The IGAD countries hope that the warring parties will adhere to implement the agreement and find amicable solutions.
