Tonj State commemorates Army Day

The government of Tonj State, organized forces and civil society organization members gathered Tuesday at Freedom Square to commemorate the 34th Army Day.
 
Governor Akech Tong Aleu expresses pleasure to the national government to mark May 16 to remember fallen heroes and heroines of the 21-year liberation struggle, Radio Don Bosco reports.
 
The national government will not forget the people who fought for the independence of South Sudan, says Severino Philip Bazia, Commissioner of Tonj County.
 
Commissioner Philip recalls that Kerubino Kuanyin Bol fired the first bullet against the government of the Sudan.
 
Philip encourages all women who lost their sons and daughters for the freedom, not to think much because their blood is being reflected in the flag of South Sudan.
 
President Salva Kiir who is the Commander-in-chief on Monday night issued a decree renaming SPLA, ‘South Sudan Defense Force’.
