A GoSS minister lamented the rampant increase of road accidents across southern Sudan.
Anthony Lino Makana is GoSS minister for Roads and Transport. He told SCR News that 80 people died yearly in Juba in road accidents.
Mr. Makana said alcohol, reckless driving and poorly maintained cars were the major causes for accidents.
Mr. Makana added that the Road Safety Week was necessary because peace brought many cars to South Sudan and there was a big increase on road accidents.
Civil servants, students, motorcyclists, and NGO representatives took to the streets of Juba this morning to conclude the road safety campaign.
The participants wore T-shirts carrying a variety of messages on road safety.
