Abandoned people are close to starvation in the Nuba Mountains as the region suffers from a severe drought causing widespread hunger.

In some parts of the Nuba Mountains families at times chase away barren women or mentally challenged people.

This happened to Kumondo Mohamed, who is mentally affected and was forced to beg.

The Comboni Sisters in the Nuba Mountains decided to offer help.

Sister Angelina Nyakuron explains that the long conflict in the region has also contributed to the suffering of the people.

The Comboni Sister adds that there are more vulnerable groups which need all the assistance they can get.
