The United States representative in South Sudan said the region lacks improved road regulations to discipline traffic and punish abusers.

Acting US Consul General Roger Moran told SCR News that Southern Sudan needed improved regulations to implement road safety and his government was assisting the ministry to develop more detailed road safety regulations.

Mr. Moran added that the United States through USAID is paving the Juba-Nimule road at a cost of over 200 million US dollars.

He added that the paving should be finished within 18 months.

Mr. Moran made these statements during the conclusion of the Road Safety Week.
