Juba residents are taking part in a march to promote safety awareness in a bid to save lives and highlight the importance of reducing dangerous driving on the roads of southern Sudan.

The march, led by GoSS Minister for Transport and Roads, Anthony Lino Makana, is the culmination of a week-long Road Safety Week in Southern Sudan.

Between eight and ten accidents are recorded daily in Juba and serious injuries occur frequently to pedestrians walking on southern Sudan’s roads, GoSS Ministry of Transport and Roads said.

The march from All Saints Cathedral to Dr. Granag Mausoleum aims to raise public awareness regarding the unnecessarily high number of people killed and injured by traffic accidents, and to share the pain of families bereaved and injured by road crashes.
