Hundreds of Ilangi Boma residents in Torit Imotong state gathered and elected Dominick Ben Loyara as their new community leader.
Several community members lined up behind the three candidates who contested for the position, Radio Emmanuel.
And Ben got the highest number of supporters.
Julius Chelestino Madi is a Chief Executive Officer of Torit Municipal council. He says democracy enables communities to choose a leader of their choice for better delivery of services.
Andrew Otok Abalu lost the votes to Ben, but he expresses willingness to work with the new leader.
Dominick Ben the new elected head says he will work to unit his community for peaceful coexistence.
Peter Jamus, who is a resident of Ilangi boma, says Ben was acting as a chief of the area.
He won the election because he did well, Jamus comments.
Mr Jamus expresses happiness to the community for electing a true servant.
Several citizens who participated in the election also acknowledge Ben as a true leader.
