At least two people have been killed in a series of night attacks by unknown gunmen in Torit town of Imotong State.
Imotong State Police Inspector General Jeremiah Otoriang says one of them was a medical student who was shot and later died at the State Hospital on Wednesday, Radio Emmanuel reports.
The Inspector says armed men in uniforms are believed to have carried out the killings and that the police are still investigating.
Otoriang advises communities in the town to remain calm as they bring the security situation to normal.
