Intense fighting between SPLA and Agwelek forces around Kodok town of Upper Nile displaced nearly twenty-five thousand people in the last three days, says Medicines Sans Frontiers or MSF.

The agency notes that humanitarian organizations have been forced to temporarily suspend activities on the west bank of the Nile because of the increasing insecurity.

Marcus Bachmann, MSF head of mission in South Sudan, describes the condition as ‘disaster in the making’ because the demand is great and hospitals are not working.

He complains that there were no deliveries of water on Wednesday because of the fighting.

The head of mission expresses worries that MSF will soon see people suffering from chronic dehydration and diarrhoea and diseases like cholera.

Bachmann calls on both parties to ensure protection of all civilians for safe and secure access to essential humanitarian services.
