The South Sudan Civil Society organizations are calling for immediate removal of all forces and war hardware from the streets of Juba to reduce fear.

The organizations say they are disturbed and heart-broken by the impact of unfolding catastrophic economic situation on the ordinary citizens.

The current deployment of forces and weapons in Juba contradicts the principles of peaceful resolution of conflict and the national dialogue, says Rajab Mohandis, Executive Director and South Sudanese Network for Democracy and Elections or SSuNDE.

He calls on the government to regulate and control the circulation of hard currencies and reduce the skyrocketing prices of goods and services in the markets of South Sudan.

Mohandis says the civil society recoments the government to initiate immediate and direct engagement with all opposition groups to build consensus and concrete steps towards peaceful resolution of conflict and economic crisis in the country.

He calls on the government to be transparent and accountable in the management of the meagre resources in South Sudan.

Declare the severe food insecurity and shortage across the country as a national crisis and emergency, says Mohandis.

He expresses concerns that majority of the population are unable to afford their daily basic needs, including clean drinking water, health care services and food.

Thirteen civil society organizations representatives gathered on Tuesday at Seventh Day Adventist and issued a joint statement concerning the current situation South Sudanese face.
