Eastern Equatoria Minister for Parliamentary Affairs was the first member of the state government to present his policy statement to the legislators yesterday.

Clement Laku Chichim presented his ministry as a bridge between the executive and the state assembly.

He told legislators that his ministry promoted good governance and democracy in a difficult post-war context.

Mr. Laku told the House he planned to spend over 1.3 million Sudanese pounds in salaries and construction of offices in some counties across the state.

Several MPs praised the minister for his clear presentation.

Some legislators questioned the minister about the recruitment of new staff in the ministry saying people from the counties would be given the opportunity instead of transferring employees from other ministries.

Mr. Laku said job advertisement will be placed for new recruitment after the public service review exercise is complete.
