Five people have been arrested in Billinyang area of Mangala County for alleged involvement in poaching of wild animals, confirms the spokesperson of the Ministry of Wildlife and Tourism.

Khamis Adhiang says the suspects were found in possession of 150 kilograms of bush meat.

Adhiang blames weak wildlife laws and food insecurity for the increase in poaching activities across the country.

He calls on the government to speed up process of establishment of a special wildlife crimes court to punish poachers.

The official further revealed that over 2000 kilograms of bush meat have been seized in Jubek State between February and March.
