The national Ministry of Health has launched a ten-year health policy to address challenges facing the sector.
It also launched Boma Health Initiative to take health services to communities in rural areas, Radio Bakhita reports.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Matur Makur Koriom says the two initiatives seek to improve salaries, training and security for health workers.
The policies will reduce child and maternal mortality rate and strengthen response to outbreaks of diseases, he adds.
First Vice President Taban Deng Gai says President Salva Kiir pledges to implement the health policy to boost the sector.
The National Health Policy 2016/2026 and the Boma Health Initiative were adopted at the conclusion of a four-day health summit in Juba on Friday.
