National Ministry of Agriculture assesses farming possibilities in Wau

A team from National Ministry of Agriculture and Green Horizon arrive in Wau to assess possibilities of investing in cultivation in the state.
 
The purpose of the project is to create food security for the people of South Sudan, says Ran Dvir Chief Agronomist in Green Horizon project, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
 
He adds that the project will also train local farmers to improve local cultivation to irrigation and modernize methods.
 
The project is intended to sustain food security country wide and the policy of the ministry to stop importing food from neighboring countries, says Erneo Balasio, Green Horizon Consultant.
 
Brigadier Rehan Ajuet reveals that his inclusion in the team follows government plan to use the project to produce food for the army and veterans in the country.
 
He added that Defense Ministry spends a lot in purchasing food from outside the country.
 
The ministry is pleased to extend Green Horizon project in all parts of the country, that is why it is in Wau, says undersecretary at the national Ministry of Agriculture.
 
Governor Mayar Acho assures Green Horizon of the state government readiness to give land and the necessary support required to ensure the project starts in Wau.
 
The project will create employment opportunities for many youth especially the new graduates in the state, he adds.
