Thousands of people who fled violence in Greater Upper Nile region are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, according to Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF.
The humanitarian needs of IDPs are huge and not being met, points out Abdalla Hussein Abdalla, MSF South Sudan Deputy Head of Mission.
He adds that the IDPs walked for days and now are in dire need of water, food, shelter and medical attention.
Hussein calls on the fighting parties to respect medical facilities because if health centres are not operating safely, the whole community will suffer.
He regrets that ‘MSF hospital is in terrible condition and medicines for the treatment of tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Kala azar are now all gone’.
