A delegation of East African Community or EAC is visiting South Sudan to assess its suitability to join the region’s common market.
EAC Secretary General Liberate Mfumukeko, who heads the delegation to Juba Wednesday, says South Sudan will trade with EAC freely in the near future, Radio Bakhita reports.
He says South Sudan will benefit from the market in trade and infrastructural development.
Mfumukeko says implementation of the initiative depends on how fast South Sudan government will catch up with the programs.
Minister of Trade and Industry, Moses Hassan Tiel, assures that South Sudan will double efforts to increase its exports.
He says the country would benefit after joining the EAC Market since it has started exporting some products to other countries.
The establishment of the East African Community Common Market is in line with the provisions of the region’s Treaty.
It provides free movement of goods; labour; services and money which will boost trade and investments between the member states
