President Salva Kiir has called for the establishment of a special court to prosecute wildlife related crimes.
John Gai Yoah, Presidential Advisor on Education conveyed the message of the president during World Wildlife Day celebration on Monday, Radio Bakhita reports.
The Advisor says President Kiir expressed determination to support wildlife conservation.
Gai quoted President Kiir as warning law enforcement agents to avoid activities that destroy wildlife.
Brigadier General Khamis Adieng Ding, Wildlife Service spokesman says 160 kilograms of ivory were ceased at the Juba International airport last year.
He adds that they are in a process of enacting a new law for trying wildlife criminals.
The Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism says they seized over six thousand kilograms of bush meat within three weeks in February this year in Juba alone.
