New order on water not effective, Juba residents complain

Residents of Juba City complain that water tank suppliers are not complying with the new order the Mayor of issued to regulate water provision.
 
They say the water vendors continue to overcharge them despite the order that reduces the price of water barrels, Radio Bakhita reports.
 
Sunday, a resident of Gudele Block Six says she bought a barrel of water at eighty South Sudanese Pounds instead of sixty as stated by the order.
 
Some residents say the order does not give them telephone numbers to report to the authorities on water supply making the order to fail.
 
Mayor Stephen Wani Michael charges Quarter Councils authorities with the implementation of the order all over Juba City.
 
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Samson, the Chairperson of the Monitoring Committee says his team is working closely with the Union of Water Tanks to resolve the problem.
 
The local order suggests different amounts to the three zones of Juba.
 
It says residents of Kator areas pay 50 SSP for purified water and 30 for that taken direct from the Nile.
 
The order adds that residents of Munuki pay 60 SSP for purified water and 40 SSP for Nile water.
 
It says people of Gudele and Gurei areas pay 70 pounds for purified water and 50 SSP for Nile water.
