According to Radio Voice Peace, Fr Deogratius Minja encourages people to repent of their sins and stop doing evil.
The priest says it is a season for fasting and prayer, giving to the needy and making peace with one another.
It is time to stop abusive words, Fr Minja adds.
The priest also advises the faithful to support one another through many ways.
Fr Minja was preaching at Saints Peter and Paul Parish on Ash Wednesday.
