Humanitarian organizations are appealing for one point six billion US Dollars to provide assistance to people of South Sudan in 2017.
Humanitarian Coordinator Eugene Owusu says the situation in South Sudan has deteriorated severely due to ongoing conflict, economic crisis and climatic shocks.
He adds that humanitarian organizations are facing extraordinary needs in many locations and the requirements will increase during the coming rainy season.
Owusu calls for full and early funding so that aid workers can respond rapidly across South Sudan.
The Coordinator says in 2016, they reached over five million people, but the crisis deepened and spread as conflict continues
He expresses determination to reach more people but urgently need the funding to do so.
Owusu appeals to the international community to support the humanitarian organizations in South Sudan to save the lives of innocent people.
He notes that 137 aid agencies: 62 national non-governmental organizations and 12 United Nations agencies aim to implement 2017 Humanitarian Response Plan.
