Rumbek residents praise radio as tool for change in South Sudan.
The praises emerged during World Radio Day celebration on Monday under the theme: ‘Radio Is You’, Radio Good News reports.
Many citizens express happiness for the radio role across the country since the independence.
Hygiene and sanitation awareness in Rumbek has been achieved through the radio, says James Lueth Ater.
He says radio stations transmit information to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
The radio promotes education, peace and reconciliation in many communities, the citizens say.
Another resident of Mabor Ngap, Elizabeth Adit Chol, cites the radio as a tool for transformation because it teaches many people at the same time.
‘There are dramas and educative songs that have really changed me and my family life and it’s through radio’, says Garang Tiit Marial of Akuach village in Rumbek.
Mr. Garang believe that relatives calm has been realize in lakes region and in different parts South Sudan due to more educative words learn from the Radio.
World Radio Day is celebrated yearly on February 13 to promote access to information, freedom of expression and gender equality among communities.
