Kajo-Keji County Commissioner says most businesses have closed down following recent fighting and killing of civilians in the area.

Luka Yombe tells Bakhita Radio that most of the business people have left for Uganda.

He says those who have no more money for sustaining businesses shut down.

Some civilians are also seeking shelter and safety in churches, Commissioner Yombe says.

The commissioner says the government and the church are persuading Kajo-Keji residents to remain within the country instead of fleeing to Uganda as refugees.

Recently, a catholic priest in Kajo-Keji said 85 percent of residents have crossed to Uganda.

Kajo-Keji witnessed an increasing insecurity in January this year that has resulted in killing of a catchiest and some civilians in Mondikolok area.
